Why do we call ourselves “Forest Walk” Consulting? We enjoy taking walks through wooded areas. As we walk down these paths, we encounter many different things. There are twists and turns as we journey from one place to another. We are constantly surprised by God’s beauty as we walk through God’s creation. Sometimes, we feel slightly lost, wondering if we’re on the right path. Sometimes, we’re confronted with forks in the path that our map doesn’t show. Sometimes, things rattle in the bushes and we wonder what kind of animal is watching us. Sometimes, we simply pause to revel in what God has done around us, thinking how blessed we are to be allowed to steward God’s creation.
All of these things are found in the life of a church as well. Churches encounter many surprises during their life. Sometimes, these are joys and sometimes they bring concern. No church travels down a straight and narrow path, clearly defined all the way to the end. God does surprising things in the life of any church, surprising us mere mortals. Churches also sometimes feel lost, wondering where they are or which fork in the road to take. Too often, churches are concerned about what is lurking around near them, distracting us from seeing God’s beauty and glory that constantly surrounds us.
Our goal at Forest Walk Consulting is to help you stay on God’s path and to keep moving forward! We want you to focus on God’s glory and the beauty around us instead of losing sight of what God has given you because of the worries of this world. We focus on helping you understand who you are today, helping you to structure your church in ways that fit your role in God’s world. We help you find your mission today.
We also will work with you to understand the possible paths you may take in the future. We have many ideas that we have seen in action and can present the joys and challenges of each of these options to you. We’ll help you do what is needed to move down the path that God has laid in front of you. We’ll encourage you to take the steps needed to continue to explore God’s creation in the life of your church.
