The University of Dubuque Theological Seminary has a long history of preparing leaders for small or rural congregations. Over the last few decades, leadership in small congregations has changed. No longer are smaller churches guaranteed to find ordained pastoral leaders. New methods of developing leaders need to be created. UDTS has been a leader in developing next generation leaders for smaller churches. For the last 25 years, UDTS has given the opportunity for believers to grow their skills and talents through the Congregational Equipping Program (formerly the Christian Leadership Program). This program gives particular training to allow those in the pews to grow their leadership abilities. Participants can learn more about pastoral care, education, preaching, and church polity.
